The power of pink

I bought the first pink item in my adult closet in 2016 after the Gucci Fall 2016 show. Alessandro sent a model down in head to toe pink and it was #EPIC. Since then, pink has been a mainstay in the Gucci lineup, delivering sophistication with an air of renaissance every time (photos courtesy Vogue.com) :

From Valentino, to Balenciaga to Chanel pink is everywhere in every shade. With designers going back to pink in at least one look every season since Fall '16.

My favorite shades are blush pink and coral. If you are a tomboy like me, who never liked hot pink (ever), try  blush pink! It is subtle, chic and is basically a neutral in the right tone. I am fully converted! Last year, I bought so much pink, it has become an obsession! Pink has become a stamp for femininity and expression, unbound by the shackles of patriarchy. 2017 was the Year of the Woman, so it is only fitting that fashion followed suit. Delivering powerful pieces, in the color so unjustly conflated with the idea of fragile femininity,  would love to wear! J'adore!

My tips for pulling off a strong pink look

Go-getter

Choose complementary shades and put it all together! No fear! Head to toe pink. In this case it is best to pick at least one item that is traditionally masculine like a sweatshirt. And pair with a miniskirt and heels.

Shine On

This is a very Guccy Gucci route. Pair pieces with sheen and shimmer, like lamé, silk, and embellished organza. Think Shiny rockstar look... in pink! Take it the extra mile by pairing your look with metallic shoes and accessories. (Pssst gold/silver are neutral colors).

Think street

This is for my girls that want to stay comfortable in denim. Opt for a boxy puffer jacket in pink! In this look, I have paired a black sheer bodysuit with a camisole that has metallic pink dots. Then tied the pink look together with blush pink boots from Sam Edelman. These shoes are my first Sam Edelman purchase. I wear a size US11 ( I know... it sucks), so I usually buy European shoes in size 42. However, I am impressed with the quality : cost ratio on this pair.

I hope I have encouraged you to invest in pink, it is here to stay with a strong showing in Pre-fall 18 shows. See my recommendations for your shopping list below ;).
